Request for Proposals

Grant Overview

The Intel Foundation seeks to support the rebuilding effort in Haiti.  Specifically, our objective is to support programs and projects that promote the following areas:

  • Digital literacy for youth or adults.  This includes programs that introduce youth or adults to basic computer skills (how to operate a computer, effective use of basic office applications, Internet, communication tools, etc.) and how those skills can be used to enhance personal, professional or educational objectives.

  • Economic self-sufficiency skills training, particularly for women and girls (see Proposal Guidelines below).  This may include training in areas such as:

o         job skills

o         employability skills

o         financial skills, and/or

o         entrepreneurship

  • Science or technology education for youth (ages 8-25 years).  This includes programs that either:

o         teach science inquiry and research, and/or

o         deliver subject matter content in specific scientific or technology disciplines.

The Intel Foundation invites qualified nonprofit organizations to submit proposals for a grant to support work in any of these specified areas.  Grants will be made in the range of $25K to $150K to support work that must be accomplished during the period February 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013.

Proposal Guidelines

Intel Foundation grant funding must be used to support a program or project that addresses one or more of the areas specified above.  The proposal must clearly articulate the manner in which the applicant’s program or project will address the Intel Foundation’s specific funding objective(s).

Programs that address economic self-sufficiency skills training (job skills, job development and/or entrepreneurship) may address the needs of both males and females in Haiti.  However, special consideration will be given to proposals that particularly target women and/or girls as a key audience.

Considerations and Restrictions

  • This invitation to submit a proposal is limited to organizations determined to be a charitable nonprofit organization under Section 501c3 of the U.S. Tax Code, or to equivalent international organizations that are organized for an educational or charitable purpose, and which qualify for funding under US Tax Code provisions allowing for “expenditure responsibility”.   The Intel Foundation reserves the right to exercise its sole judgment in determining which organizations will qualify for an Intel Foundation grant.
  • Proposals submitted to the Intel Foundation must comply with the Required Elements of a Proposal as described below. The Intel Foundation reserves the right to decline to consider any proposal that does not contain the required elements.
  • The Intel Foundation reserves the right to determine, in its sole discretion, whether any of the proposals submitted through this Request for Proposals qualify for funding, and may, in its sole judgment, determine that no grants will be awarded.
  • If a proposal for funding is selected through this RFP process, the organization will be invited to submit a formal application through the Intel Foundation online process, and required to enter into a grant agreement with the Intel Foundation to receive funding.  No liability or commitments are made or implied until such agreement has been approved and signed by both parties.
